About the role
Ranked Group is hiring an experienced Data Center Manager to lead the design and construction of new data center facilities for our consulting clients across Japan. You'll own projects end to end — from site selection and vendor coordination to commissioning and handover — working with a small, senior team and international stakeholders.
What you'll do
- Lead the planning, design and construction of data center facilities across Japan
- Coordinate contractors, vendors and internal engineering teams throughout each build
- Own project timelines, budgets and quality against client requirements
- Oversee power, cooling, networking and physical-security infrastructure
- Manage commissioning, testing and handover to client operations teams
- Report progress, risks and budget to clients and Ranked Group leadership
What we're looking for
- 5+ years managing data center or large-scale infrastructure construction projects
- Strong understanding of power, cooling (HVAC) and structured cabling systems
- Proven experience coordinating multiple vendors and contractors on-site
- Business-level Japanese (JLPT N2+) for client and vendor communication
- Willingness to travel to project sites across Japan
Nice to have
- Experience with hyperscale or colocation facilities
- Familiarity with AWS and cloud-migration projects
- PMP or an equivalent project-management certification
- Knowledge of Uptime Institute Tier standards
