Architect

As Architect within Dwango's Engineering division, this role defines system requirements and architecture for KADOKAWA group services, including group media websites (The Television, Walkerplus, Lettuce Club) and internal business systems. Responsibilities include translating business needs and quality goals into system designs, selecting technologies and tooling, and once development starts, leading the engineering team and external vendors with strong leadership to deliver the target system. Concrete tasks include requirements definition, architecture design (basic design, technology selection, tooling for efficiency), and conducting technical reviews of vendor work to surface issues early. The tech stack includes Python, Scala, TypeScript, JavaScript, Node.js, MySQL, AWS, Jenkins, and Git, chosen per project by the architect. Team size is 5-10 people, with remote work available; office is in Ginza, Chuo-ku, Tokyo. Required: foundational computer science knowledge, experience defining and designing software requirements with operations in mind, and hands-on software implementation experience in any language. Preferred: web application development experience, public cloud (AWS/GCP) experience, and outside-work engineering activity such as OSS contributions, technical writing, or conference speaking. Employment is full-time with a 3-month probation period (same conditions).
