Terms & Conditions

Last updated: September 13, 2026

1. Acceptance

ranked.jp (“the site”, “we”, “our”) is operated by Ranked Group, a company based in Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, Japan. By using the site or creating an account, you agree to these Terms & Conditions and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

2. The Service

Ranked is a job board and professional network for software engineers and related professionals in Japan. Job and company listings are collected automatically from public sources and summarized with AI, or authored by verified company administrators (Section 9). Rankings, tags, salary bands, visa-sponsorship and language estimates are our own automated assessments and are provided for orientation only — they may be incomplete or inaccurate. Always refer to the employer’s original posting and confirm details directly with the employer before relying on them. Ranked also offers an AI chat assistant, covered by Section 3. We are not a recruitment agency and are not a party to any application, interview, or employment relationship. Candidates choose where to apply; employers make hiring decisions. Ranked transmits candidate-requested applications and provides information and management tools. Ranked does not undertake to independently source candidates, arrange private introductions or negotiate employment terms. A future licensed placement service would require separate enrollment and applicable terms.

3. The Chat Assistant

Ranked offers an AI assistant that answers questions about working and hiring in Japan and shows listings from our own catalogue. It is free and open to everyone, with or without an account. Using it means accepting the following.

  • It is automated, and it can be wrong. Its answers are generated by a language model and are provided for orientation only, like every other estimate on the site. They are not legal, immigration, tax, employment, or financial advice, and the assistant does not speak for any employer. Check anything that matters — visa eligibility, salary, requirements, deadlines — against the employer’s own posting, and, where it concerns your status in Japan, with a qualified professional or the relevant authority.
  • It covers work in Japan and nothing else.It will decline other subjects; it is not a general-purpose assistant.
  • Do not send it sensitive information. Do not enter passwords, financial or identity-document details, health information, or other people’s personal data. Conversations are not stored (see the Privacy Policy), so the chat is also not a place to keep anything you will need later.
  • Things it does for you. The assistant can save jobs to your liked list, and — if you ask for it and confirm the draft it shows you — send an enquiry to us by email. You are responsible for the contents of a message you confirm. An enquiry creates no agreement and no obligation on our part to reply, and nothing the assistant says about consulting work, availability, rates, or timelines is an offer or a quotation.
  • Fair use. Each message costs us money, so the assistant is rate-limited per visitor and capped monthly, and it may be throttled, refused, or unavailable. Do not automate it, evade its limits, use it to relay unsolicited or abusive mail, or attempt to drive it outside the purpose described here.
  • Employer tools. Authorized company administrators can use AI to edit company/job information and change applicant statuses. The AI can execute requested shortlist or rejection changes, including groups. Employers must check the affected applicants and results, correct errors, and make their own hiring decisions; automated output is not an objective assessment of a person's suitability. Applicant processing is described in the Privacy Policy.
  • Availability. The assistant is provided “as is” and may be changed, limited, or withdrawn at any time.

4. Accounts

Accounts are created and accessed with single-use email links — there is no password. You are responsible for the security of the email address you register with, and for the information you add to your profile. You must be legally able to work or seek work to list your profile publicly. One account per person; accounts may not be sold or transferred.

5. Profiles and Visibility

Your profile is private by default. The Settings choices for employer discovery and general matching improvement are optional permissions you give, each on its own. Neither is enabled by account creation, these Terms or an earlier permission. The scope and safeguards are described in Section 4 of the Privacy Policy. Before discovery begins, you must approve the profile shown. Identity and resume sharing require your separate approval for a named recipient or your instruction to submit an application. Earlier private introductions are retired.

The public Talent directory is not launched. Any earlier public-visibility choice remains separate and can be withdrawn by contacting admin@ranked.jp. You retain ownership of your content and grant Ranked a non-exclusive license to store and process it to operate requested services, and to display it only within your authorized scope. Keep your information accurate; impersonation and misrepresentation are prohibited.

6. Email Relay

Profiles that accept opportunity messages may be issued a relay address on our messages subdomain. Mail sent to a relay address is automatically screened for detected spam or viruses and any configured blocked terms. We may silently drop messages that fail those checks, and we do not guarantee delivery of any relayed message. Relevance matching against profile interests is not currently implemented. Using relay addresses to send unsolicited bulk mail, harassment, or deceptive content is prohibited and may result in termination and blocking.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to misuse the site — including attempting to break or overload it, scraping personal data of other users for purposes unrelated to hiring or networking, submitting unlawful or infringing content, or interfering with other users. The chat assistant carries its own rules in Section 3. Automated access to our public listing data for legitimate job-search, research, or agent use is welcome within reasonable request rates.

8. Third-Party Sites

Job cards link to external sites (employers’ career pages and applicant tracking systems). We are not responsible for their content, availability, or how they handle your data.

9. Employer-Authored Postings

Verified company administrators may author job postings that are hosted on the site (their company page and the linked job pages), rather than scraped from an external source. If you author or publish such a posting, you represent that you are authorized to act for that company, that the posting describes a genuine opening, and that its content is accurate, lawful, non-discriminatory, and does not infringe any third party’s rights. You grant us a non-exclusive license to host, display, adapt for layout, and distribute the posting (including in search engines and to automated agents) while it is live. You are responsible for keeping it accurate and for removing it when the role is filled or withdrawn. We are not the employer and are not a party to any resulting application or hire; we may edit, unpublish, or remove any posting — and suspend the associated account — that we believe violates these terms or the law.

Company administrators are responsible for authorized staff access and correct application destinations, including any external recipient or system they configure. Candidate data may be used only for the disclosed hiring purpose, not resold, used for unrelated marketing or passed onward without authorization. Do not attempt to identify candidates whose identifying details are hidden. Apply the same restrictions to staff, ATS integrations, APIs and AI agents, and remove access when it is no longer authorized. Employers may provide accurate application status updates for Ranked to store and operate application management; future interview, offer and hire reporting will be described before launch. Company permission never overrides a candidate's sharing choices.

The content license also covers employer-provided company information and its structuring, translation and AI summarization for display through Ranked. Employers must review material corrections before publishing. These terms do not authorize Ranked to independently select or approach candidates on an employer's behalf.

10. Disclaimers and Liability

The site is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, including accuracy of listings, rankings, estimates, or anything the chat assistant generates, or fitness for a particular purpose. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, lost opportunities, or decisions made in reliance on information from the site. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

11. Termination

You can stop using the site and remove your profile at any time while signed in, or request deletion by contacting us. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or abuse the service.

12. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date; continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms. This does not grant new optional data permissions.

13. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Japan. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Tokyo District Court.

14. Contact
