Kirin Holdings became the holding company of the Kirin Group in 2007, when Kirin Brewery, incorporated in 1907, changed its name. In Japan, Kirin Brewery makes beer, Mercian handles wine, Kirin Distillery makes spirits and Kirin Beverage supplies soft drinks. Overseas beverage companies include Lion in Australia and New Zealand and New Belgium Brewing in the United States.
Its health science business includes FANCL, Kyowa Hakko Bio, Koiwai Dairy Products and Australia’s Blackmores. The pharmaceutical business is run by Kyowa Kirin, with group companies in Asia, the United States and Europe, including Orchard Therapeutics. The group had 31,144 consolidated employees as of December 31, 2025.
