Toray Industries began in 1926 producing rayon yarn and is headquartered in Nihonbashi, Chuo, Tokyo. It manufactures, processes and sells nylon, polyester and acrylic yarns, fabrics and nonwovens; resins such as nylon, ABS, PBT and PPS; polyester and polyolefin films; fine chemicals and electronic and information materials; and carbon fibers and carbon fiber composite materials.
Its water treatment and healthcare business supplies water treatment membranes and related equipment, pharmaceuticals and medical devices, and other units provide engineering, housing and construction materials, and analysis services. As of March 31, 2026, the group had 308 subsidiaries and affiliates and 46,294 consolidated employees, and revenue for the year then ended was ¥2,585.1 billion.
