UBE is a chemicals maker whose group runs two businesses, chemicals and machinery. Its chemical products include nylon resins and the caprolactam used to make nylon, butadiene rubber, polyimide films and varnishes for electronics, gas separation membranes made from polyimide hollow fibers, and silicon nitride powder.
Fine chemicals include polycarbonate diols and other coating materials, and its polyurethane products are used as elastomers, coatings and adhesives. The pharmaceutical business covers drug discovery and the manufacture of active ingredients and intermediates. UBE also sells liquefied gases and products related to semiconductor gases.
