Ushio

Industrial Light Sources · Optical Equipment · Minato, Tokyo

Ushio develops light sources and optical equipment, using light not only for illumination but also as photochemical energy (ultraviolet) and thermal energy (infrared). Its products include LED chips and packages, laser diodes, the UX-4 series of full-field projection mask aligners and equipment for surface treatment and UV curing, alongside optical microfabrication services.

The company works in three fields: industrial processes such as semiconductor manufacturing, visual imaging, where its xenon lamps and projectors are used in movie theaters, and life science. It also offers UV solutions for environmental hygiene and MITLAS, a high-intensity near-infrared time-stretch spectroscopic system. Ushio was established in 1964, and its head office is in Minato, Tokyo.
