Quality Assurance, Quality Control and Production Management Engineer

This role designs, implements and continuously improves quality assurance, quality control and production management processes for artificial satellite development and manufacturing as the organization moves toward mass production. The position works closely with development, manufacturing, testing, procurement and supplier teams to build processes that consistently ensure satellites can function reliably in space.

Quality assurance responsibilities include promoting design and test reviews, improving nonconformance management through NCRs, corrective actions and recurrence prevention, resolving quality issues with related departments, and feeding findings back into the development cycle. Quality control responsibilities include monitoring and analyzing quality conditions across design, manufacturing and testing, improving quality processes, and establishing quality standards and operating practices that enable consistent results regardless of the person in charge.

Production management responsibilities include production planning, process control and supplier coordination. The role contributes to a stable production structure for multiple projects while balancing quality, cost and delivery schedules in preparation for mass production. It also uses quality and production data to improve quality and production processes and the QMS, while helping raise quality literacy across the team by sharing quality knowledge and ways of thinking.

The role requires hands-on work in areas where processes are not yet fully established. The person will be expected to define practical processes and put them into operation, rather than only describing an ideal future state. The work involves discussing quality, cost and delivery trade-offs with engineers under the schedule pressure of individual satellite missions and addressing problems for which there is no single established answer.

The organization develops and integrates small satellites from design and manufacturing through launch, operation and data use. The team includes engineers from aerospace, automotive, communications, web and other industries. Project progress is openly shared through Slack, and the team uses Slack, GitHub Issues and Projects, Confluence and Jira for project management and information sharing. Design data may be managed with CATIA or SolidWorks depending on the mission. Quality management tools include nonconformance and quality-data systems, and testing and inspection data are being moved toward database use and automation; Python is welcomed for this work.

The work location is the Ariake office in Koto, Tokyo. Office attendance is generally expected, with partial remote work available. The stated workplace may include company-designated locations, including places used for telework.
