Satellite Communications Engineer

This role covers design, verification, and operation within the employee’s area of expertise in an end-to-end LEO satellite communications system spanning satellites, ground stations, and customers.

The work is part of a satellite communications program pursuing direct-to-device connectivity, in which terminals connect directly to satellites without special dedicated equipment. The program is intended to provide communications infrastructure in areas that terrestrial networks do not reach. Satellite-related technologies are developed internally, while the company also works with partners through open innovation.

It assigns responsibilities according to the candidate’s specialist field.

The satellite business has been selected for a Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications commissioned research program on expanding radio resources and for the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency’s Space Strategy Fund. In December 2025, the company completed a ground-based proof-of-principle experiment for an array antenna.

The company also has its own rocket launch capability, allowing it to pursue a vertically integrated business combining rockets and satellites. It was founded in 2013 in Taiki, Hokkaido, and its MOMO sounding rocket became the first vehicle from a Japanese private company acting independently to reach outer space. In January 2026, the company raised 20.1 billion JPY in Series F funding, bringing cumulative funding to 44.6 billion JPY, and it is pursuing a business partnership with Toyota Motor Corporation and Woven by Toyota.

The work location is the Tokyo Second Branch at 7-1-2 Toyo, Koto-ku, Tokyo, in the Eastnet Building’s second floor. The office is generally smoke-free indoors, with a designated smoking room in the shared area on the same floor. The scope of location changes is the company’s designated business offices.
