AI and Data DX Promotion Specialist

This role drives AI- and data-based digital transformation for Kubota Group’s environmental plant business, including wastewater treatment plants. The work focuses on advanced control and creating new value through data use. Responsibilities include analyzing and evaluating plant-operation data, developing AI-based operational control algorithms, and advancing systems from proof of concept through implementation for actual operations. The role is positioned at the core of data-utilization systems for optimizing and improving plant operations, rather than being limited to data visualization or monitoring.

Required qualifications include at least two years of practical experience in data analysis and machine learning using Python, and experience analyzing plant or manufacturing data. Candidates must also have either experience using a data-utilization platform such as Databricks or a cloud platform for analysis and implementation, or experience implementing a proof of concept or business system. Preferred experience includes developing AI-based control or optimization algorithms, and knowledge of reinforcement learning, mathematical optimization, or control engineering. Experience building MLOps or cloud-native systems is also welcomed, as are Databricks or Apache Spark certifications and cloud data-engineering or machine-learning certifications.

The role supports environmental plant operations and systems for water and environmental services. The employer provides environmental plant engineering, including design, construction, maintenance, and operation-related services for water treatment, sewage treatment, industrial wastewater, exhaust-gas treatment, and other facilities.

The position is full-time and based in Chuo-ku, Tokyo. Working hours are 8:30 to 17:15, with eight scheduled working hours and a 45-minute break from 12:00 to 12:45. Flextime scheduling and work-from-home arrangements are available. The posting states that employees are generally expected to come to the office once a week, although some duties require attendance and individual consultation is possible for work outside the Tokyo area or fully remote arrangements. Annual holidays are 125 days, with weekends and national holidays generally off. Overtime is applicable. The employment includes a six-month probationary period with no change in pay or treatment. Annual salary is JPY 5.3 million to JPY 7.7 million, including overtime, with overtime paid at 100 percent.
