AI Engineer, Satellite Data

The AI Engineer will work toward expertise in the satellite-data field. Responsibilities include developing applications connected to new businesses, researching technology trends and customer needs, setting development policies, investigating concrete methods for business challenges, implementing solutions, and advancing projects together with business members.

The role is part of the custom AI solutions business and may involve project management across different areas depending on the client and project. Work may include AI utilization consulting, AI system proposals, AI proofs of concept and prototypes, AI system development, satellite-use advisory services, satellite-data analysis engines and reports, MLOps and continued-learning environments, and AI licensing services.

Required qualifications include approximately three or more years of experience or skills in deep learning, statistical methods, and machine-learning methods; experience using development tools such as GitHub; and development experience using cloud services such as AWS, GCP, or Azure. Logical thinking and the ability to explain technical matters are also required. Interest in satellite imagery and data use is expected. Japanese must be at a native level, and English ability above daily conversation level with no resistance to using English is required.

Preferred qualifications include practical development experience using remote sensing, satellite imagery, or satellite data; project-management experience; the ability to implement reinforcement-learning methods using libraries or open-source software; prior-research investigation skills; and the ability to read papers in English and communicate with engineers and researchers at other companies.

The development environment uses Python, AWS, GCP, Azure, in-house servers, Git and GitHub, GitHub Actions, Docker, Terraform, AWS CDK, Google Drive, and Slack. The work covers AI technologies including machine learning, deep learning, optimization, image analysis, satellite-data analysis, and generative AI.

The position is a permanent full-time role with no fixed contract period and a six-month probationary period. The estimated annual salary is JPY 5,000,000 to JPY 8,000,000, with a fixed monthly salary that includes 45 hours of deemed overtime. Bonuses are paid twice a year based on the basic monthly salary and company performance. Working hours use a discretionary work system with eight deemed hours per day; during probation, a flextime system applies. The office is in Otemachi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo. Remote work is generally available with attendance at the office once a week, while client visits and field surveys may require on-site work.
