AI/DX Executive Director

This contract role leads AI and DX projects as a project manager. The work includes understanding clients’ business processes through discussion, managing overall project progress and issues, organizing requirements, conducting requirements definition, negotiating with clients, and preparing project materials. The manager works under a PMO consisting of a company executive and may manage teams of approximately three to ten people, including contract engineers on larger projects. The role includes discussions with client project leaders and schedule management for projects ranging from tens of millions to several hundred million yen.

Required qualifications include experience at principal or senior manager level or above in a strategy consulting firm, or equivalent experience in an operating company, with approximately five or more years indicated as a guideline. Practical experience in requirements definition, the ability to develop hypotheses and strategies for highly abstract problems, and literacy in the business use of AI, machine learning, and data science are required. Candidates must be able to communicate smoothly with junior engineers, adjust to technical topics with sufficient IT literacy, understand current technology trends, and lead core-business transformation or system construction rather than only implementation. Strategic requirements-definition experience and the ability to work proactively on site are also required.

Knowledge of large-industry domains such as finance, infrastructure, or manufacturing; experience founding a company or creating a new business; and requirements-definition experience for large-scale projects are welcomed. Projects may involve generative AI, satellite-data utilization, image analysis, and other advanced AI technologies. The company works on projects spanning corporate and social issues, including manufacturing DX, satellite-data analysis, and security and intelligence. The project team and client context vary by assignment.

The expected engagement is at least 30% of a working week, with specific hours negotiable. The contract is expected to run for approximately two to three months at the shortest and about one year at the longest, by project, with renewal or extension possible. Compensation is negotiable and is described as a monthly rate linked to working percentage, with approximately 3–5 million yen per month indicated. The work location is Otemachi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo. Depending on the project, attendance at a client site several times per week for half a day to several hours may be required, with attendance at the company office at other times. The start date is negotiable.
