Develop and modernize the CrowdWorks Android app, reducing technical debt, building user features, leading OS updates and incident response, and shaping architecture and testing.
The Android Engineer will develop the CrowdWorks (jp) Android application. The position is part of Product Headquarters, Product Development Department 1, Platform Development Group 3, and supports the transition from an externally outsourced development model to an in-house structure.
The role covers improvement of the existing codebase, including understanding and refactoring code with accumulated technical debt. Planned modernization includes phased migrations from Realm to Room, RxJava to Coroutines, and XML to Jetpack Compose. Alongside this work, the engineer will develop new features intended to improve the user experience.
The engineer will lead annual Android OS updates, application releases, and incident response. The role also includes establishing a sustainable development process by designing the architecture, selecting libraries, and creating the testing strategy with decision-making discretion. Documentation and design guidelines will be organized as part of this work.
Existing screens and documentation covering development direction are already in place, so the role is not expected to define every policy from the beginning. Because the position combines technical debt reduction with new initiative development, technical decisions and improvement proposals are connected to product quality and development speed. The engineer will also be able to follow how user metrics change after improvements are implemented.
