iOS Engineer

This role develops and operates the company’s iOS application from planning and design through implementation, release, improvement, and measurement. Responsibilities include designing and building new and improved features, operating the app, strengthening the Tabering feature for visualizing daily behavior, planning and developing Diet Mode for monitoring daily calorie balance, and optimizing the registration flow to improve the initial user experience.

The engineer works from user feedback, forms hypotheses about how to support continued behavior and which expressions are effective, and discusses these questions with other team members. The role also includes reviewing user feedback, participating in data analysis and A/B testing, and evaluating the impact of released changes.

The service is available on the web and in mobile applications. It supports people living with illnesses or concerns about their health and includes more than 12,000 recipes supervised by registered dietitians. The product covers more than 80 diseases and life stages and includes personalized meal-plan suggestions based on nutritional standards, as well as features for recording changes in weight, blood pressure, and blood glucose. The work combines expert knowledge, technology, and large-scale data in the food and health domain.

Engineers lead product development in a project structure without directors. They take part in planning, implementation, release, and effectiveness measurement. The iOS team works with Android and web engineers, designers, registered dietitians, editors, and machine-learning and data-science members. The team includes a senior engineer who leads through CI/CD improvements and technology selection, as well as engineers with registered-dietitian and venture-company backgrounds.

Development includes larger feature additions and improvements, discussed with the CEO and members of different disciplines several times a year, alongside smaller engineer-led projects for daily UX improvements and feature tuning. The stated workflow covers organizing problems and hypotheses in Notion, project kickoff with designers and registered dietitians, UX design and wireframes in Figma, implementation planning in Notion and spreadsheets, task management through GitHub and Notion, reviews and internal testing with TestFlight, and log analysis with BigQuery and Firebase in coordination with the research and development team. Learnings are recorded in Notion and Scrapbox for later projects.

After joining, the engineer participates in implementation on an existing project and gradually gains leadership experience. A skill map and one-on-one meetings are used to clarify development areas and support progress toward goals. The position is full-time in Tokyo. The office is a single floor with free-address seating and drinks available. Online interviews are accepted.
