This is a full-time, mid-career iOS Engineer position based in Tokyo. Online interviews are available.
The engineer will design, develop, operate, and improve the company’s iOS application. Responsibilities cover the product lifecycle from identifying user problems and planning features through UX design, implementation, testing, release, and post-release measurement. The work includes new features and improvements for the Oishi Kenko app, enhancements to the Tabering feature that helps users visualize daily behavior, planning and development for a diet mode that tracks daily calorie balance, and optimization of the registration flow for the initial user experience.
The role is driven by user feedback and hypotheses about how to support continued behavior and improve the user experience. The engineer participates directly in data analysis, A/B testing, and reviewing user comments. Large feature additions and improvements are planned several times a year with the CEO and members of other disciplines. Smaller, engineer-led projects focus on ongoing UX improvements and feature tuning.
The development process includes clarifying the problem, hypothesis, KPI, and user feedback in Notion; sharing objectives with designers and registered dietitians; creating wireframes in Figma; breaking work into implementation tasks using Notion and spreadsheets; managing tasks with GitHub and Notion; conducting internal testing with TestFlight; analyzing release logs with BigQuery and Firebase in cooperation with the research and development team; and recording lessons learned in Notion and Scrapbox.
The iOS team includes a senior engineer who leads work on CI/CD and technology selection, an engineer who previously worked as a registered dietitian, and a younger engineer who participates from the planning stage. The role works with Android and Web engineers, designers, registered dietitians, editors, machine-learning specialists, and data scientists. Engineers lead product development in a project structure without a director, taking part in planning, implementation, release, and effect measurement. New members initially join an existing project through implementation and gradually gain lead experience, with skill mapping and one-on-one development support. The service provides Web and mobile applications containing more than 12,000 recipes supervised by registered dietitians and supports users across more than 80 diseases and life stages.
