Web Application Engineer (Student Intern)

This student internship involves developing and improving production web products used by real users. With support from employee engineers, the intern participates in the full development flow, including requirements discussions, design, implementation, testing, and release. Responsibilities also include performance improvements, refactoring, resolving technical debt, bug fixes, API and database design, and involvement with CI/CD and AWS infrastructure. Participation in code reviews, design discussions, and other team development activities is expected.

The products address information, operations, and transactions in the commercial real-estate sector. The role provides practical experience with customer feedback, product development in a startup environment, and the relationship between real estate and technology. The intern can work across the overall stack from frontend and backend to infrastructure, with code reviews and mentoring from experienced engineers.

The frontend environment uses Next.js, React, and TypeScript. Backend environments vary by product and include Rust with actix-web and async-graphql, Ruby on Rails, and TypeScript with Node.js and NestJS. GraphQL is used for the interface with the frontend, and shared components are separated into microservices. Internal analysis tools use Python and Streamlit. Development tools include GitHub for code management, GitHub Actions for CI/CD, Sentry and Datadog for monitoring, JIRA for task management, Slack for communication, and GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor, Devin, and Codex for development support.

Applicants must be enrolled in a school and expected to graduate in March 2028. Experience developing with any programming language is required; university research, personal projects, and hackathons are acceptable sources of experience. Basic knowledge of Git or another version-control tool and an understanding of HTTP and the basic operation of web APIs are also required. Experience with TypeScript and React frontend development is welcomed.
