Metals · Industrial materials · Chiyoda, Tokyo

The DOWA group was founded in 1884 at the Kosaka mine in Akita and builds on its mining and smelting technology. Its environmental business handles industrial-waste incineration, controlled landfill, soil remediation and recycling, while its smelters recover more than 20 metals, including gold, silver, copper and zinc, from ores, e-scrap and used catalysts.

The electronic materials business makes high-purity materials, gallium arsenide wafers, infrared and ultraviolet LEDs and silver and copper powders. Metal processing supplies copper-alloy strips, plating and metal-ceramic substrates, and heat treatment offers contract surface treatment and industrial furnaces. The group had 11,577 consolidated employees, including part-time staff, as of March 31, 2026.
