INPEX CORPORATION researches, explores, develops, produces and sells oil, natural gas and other mineral resources. Its projects include the Ichthys LNG Project in Australia, which it describes as the first large-scale LNG project operated by a Japanese company, as well as oil field interests in Abu Dhabi and operations in Indonesia.
In Japan it produces natural gas and supplies it through a pipeline network, and it runs an oil terminal at Naoetsu, service stations and an iodine business. It is also developing hydrogen and ammonia, carbon capture and storage (CCS) and renewable energy. As of December 31, 2025, INPEX had 3,720 consolidated employees.
