Lead new business development by gathering primary information through customer and expert interactions, and validate hypotheses.
SpeakBuddy operates a B2C AI English conversation app used by over 5 million people, and a growing B2B corporate business offering the same service as language training and an employee benefit for large enterprises. The company is now building a new venture beyond language learning, led directly by the CEO together with the CGO and a product manager, advised by the VP of Corporate Business. This role is a dedicated business development hire responsible for gathering first-hand customer information and refining the new business hypothesis. Core responsibilities: identify and approach target corporate clients through outbound outreach, propose MVP or concept-stage products and services, and validate hypotheses based on client reactions; interview subject-matter experts across relevant fields to sharpen understanding of the problem and possible solutions, running multiple hypotheses in parallel and preparing decision material including pivot or withdrawal options; and organize findings from customer conversations and executive discussions into materials the team can use for decision-making, as well as external-facing proposal materials for clients. The position works closely with the CEO and CGO on new-business decisions from the earliest, zero-to-one stage. Employment type is full-time, based in Nihombashi, Chuo-ku, Tokyo.
