Satellite Business System Development Lead

The role leads end-to-end system development covering satellite buses, communications payloads, ground stations and operational systems. It has execution responsibility for launching and establishing the early satellite systems and communications technology strategy functions, as well as ground-station and operations capabilities.

Responsibilities include overall project development management, end-to-end integration and QCD management across the satellite system, ground station and operations domains. The lead will build and drive a development structure involving multiple teams, partner companies and external collaborators.

The position involves discussing technical and execution trade-offs with chief engineers and fellows, then translating decisions into the development environment. It also requires making a continuing series of rapid decisions aimed at creating working results first, with both short-term demonstrations and future commercialization in view.

As the development organization expands, the role will support hiring, onboarding and development, and help establish the foundation for senior technical positions and management layers. The work location is the company's Tokyo Second Branch in Koto-ku, Tokyo. The office is generally smoke-free indoors, with a designated smoking room in a shared area on the same floor.
