Building Cost Estimator

The role handles building quantity surveying and cost management for new construction projects, mainly rental apartments, factories, and stores using steel and reinforced-concrete structures. Responsibilities include preparing detailed estimates and preliminary quotations, developing realistic execution budgets based on temporary works plans, site conditions, construction methods, and actual productivity, and supporting construction sites with cost-reduction consultations and estimate revisions when methods change. The role also explains estimate assumptions to design firms and owners and conducts related negotiations.

Required qualifications include a high school education or higher and approximately 10 or more years of practical experience managing construction for S-structure or RC-structure buildings, including work as a site supervisor or site representative. Experience with at least one of the stated building uses—rental apartments, factories, or stores—is required. Dedicated estimating experience is not required; experience preparing execution budgets and managing daily costs as a construction manager or supervisor is welcomed.

Preferred qualifications include a first- or second-class architect license, a first- or second-class construction management engineer license, or a building cost estimator qualification. Experience managing execution budgets and protecting profits from project start through completion as a site representative, professional building estimating experience, or experience using any building estimating software is also welcomed.

The position supports projects involving water-treatment facilities, infrastructure-related buildings, group-company factories, and commercial warehouses. The employer is Kubota Construction Co., Ltd., part of the Kubota Group.

This is a full-time permanent position in the East Japan Branch in Chuo-ku, Tokyo. Working hours are 8:30 to 17:20 with a 50-minute break and eight actual working hours. Overtime is approximately 15 to 30 hours per month. Annual holidays total 125 days, including a five-day workweek on Saturdays and Sundays and public holidays, with paid leave and seasonal, year-end, and other holidays. The posting states that a remote-work system is available. Estimated annual compensation is 8.1 million to 9.5 million yen, with monthly pay of 416,000 to 520,000 yen including allowances and bonuses paid twice yearly. Commuting expenses are fully covered, and other allowances include qualification, overtime and holiday work, separate-living, and meal support.
