Facility Engineer - DCEO

A Facility Engineer role in the Data Center Engineering & Operations (DCEO) organization of a major cloud provider's Japan data-services entity. The position is responsible for stably operating the power and cooling equipment that supports the provider's data centers, keeping customers' applications and websites running 24/7/365 as social infrastructure. The company has operated as a cloud-computing pioneer since 2006 and runs hundreds of data centers worldwide serving millions of customers from startups to large enterprises and government agencies. Key responsibilities include maintenance and management of mechanical and electrical equipment in the data-center facility, responding to equipment failures to minimize customer downtime, investigating and resolving technical issues related to failures, maintenance and expansion, and installing and removing equipment. A typical day involves shift work moving through server rooms, HVAC machine rooms and electrical rooms, monitoring and controlling mechanical and electrical equipment, planning and preparing maintenance safely, managing maintenance-service vendors, and working with teams that install and remove servers and hardware, all while reducing operating costs and driving innovation.
