The Flight Safety Engineer leads flight safety and system safety for rockets used to launch artificial satellites. The role is responsible for the design work and application-related work needed to achieve safe, low-cost launches.
Responsibilities include evaluating the safety and reliability of rocket systems; coordinating with project teams to balance technical objectives, schedules and costs; and preparing safety review materials, technical documents, plans, specifications and verification materials.
The Systems Group defines the functions and performance required for a rocket to reliably complete a launch mission and verifies that designed and manufactured rockets meet those requirements as a complete system. The group works across liquid rocket elements including engines, tanks, control mechanisms, vehicle structures, avionics and radio communications systems.
The role requires coordinating conflicting requirements, complex design conditions, customer requirements from artificial satellite operators and compliance with relevant laws and regulations. The Systems Group works with component designers to determine vehicle specifications and verify overall functions and performance. The scope of work may change to duties designated by the company.
The work location is the company’s Tokyo Second Branch in Koto-ku, Tokyo. The office is in principle non-smoking indoors; a dedicated smoking room is available in a shared area on the same floor.
