Incoming Inspection Engineer (Manufacturing Site Support)

This position handles incoming inspection and quality control for PCBs, electrical components, machined parts, and harnesses used in microsatellite production. Inspections must be completed within five business days from delivery. Duties include electrical operating checks, characteristic verification, dimensional and visual inspection of mechanical parts, and hands-on inspection work based on standard labor hours.

When inspection work is temporarily less busy, the role also supports manufacturing activities such as satellite and component assembly, vibration and thermal-vacuum environmental testing, and functional testing. From autumn onward, the position is expected to handle incoming inspection for machined parts and harnesses brought back in-house from Yuki Precision. The role also coordinates with external contractors responsible for these inspections and confirms their quality.

Additional responsibilities include preparing and updating inspection standards and procedures, creating training materials after the process is brought in-house and standard labor hours and contractors are established, and providing on-site training, including visits to contractor companies. The role performs initial defect triage, works with design and quality-related departments, and may support launch-site activities when applicable. In the longer term, the successful candidate is expected to take over as the primary person responsible for incoming inspection and develop broader expertise in quality control and quality improvement.

Candidates should have practical experience inspecting or assembling electrical or electronic equipment or mechatronics hardware; no specific number of years is required. They should be able to understand circuit or wiring diagrams or drawings created with 2D or 3D CAD and make pass-or-fail decisions against inspection criteria, or demonstrate the aptitude to do so. Accuracy, responsibility, adherence to deadlines and standards, willingness to participate directly in manufacturing work, and practical experience with receiving or incoming inspection are sought. The work involves daily coordination with design, manufacturing, procurement, and external contractors, so smooth communication and negotiation are important. The position requires calm, accurate handling of concurrent inspection requests and a high tolerance for pressure, as well as a collaborative approach to helping colleagues and seeking assistance when needed.

Preferred experience includes quality assurance, assembly or manufacturing of mechatronics products, design using 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, inspection or measurement with instruments such as oscilloscopes and testers, and manufacturing or inspection of satellites, aircraft, or precision equipment. A willingness to communicate in English is listed as a preferred skill. The role suits someone who enjoys working hands-on, can perform detailed inspection consistently, can switch between inspection and manufacturing according to conditions, wants to assume ownership of the inspection function, learns new technologies proactively, and can document inspection know-how and teach it clearly to internal members and external contractors.

The position is a full-time, permanent role in Chuo-ku, Tokyo. Working hours use a discretionary labor system. Holidays include a two-day weekly schedule and national holidays, with annual paid leave, congratulatory and bereavement leave, and a fifth-year bonus leave.
