Plant Design Engineer

The role designs wastewater treatment facilities for private factories and industrial plants. Responsibilities include preparing specifications for purchased machinery, arranging procurement and utility construction work, and preparing cost calculation documents. The position also covers process and budget management as part of project management.

The engineer works with related teams on system design, construction, and commissioning to complete each plant. After gaining experience with design under the guidance of senior colleagues, the person is expected to gradually take a central role in progressing projects from order receipt through start-up. Projects support Japanese companies operating in Japan, China, Taiwan, and Southeast Asia.

Applicants must have graduated from a science-related university faculty and have an interest in environmental business, problem solving, or plant engineering. Experience in any type of design, plant design, water-treatment equipment design, or equipment operation is welcome.

During the design period, work is mainly office-based. During construction, the role includes assisting with on-site administrative work from the office and traveling to support field activities, although the position is not permanently stationed at construction sites. A medium-sized project may last about one and a half years.

Work from home is available. A six-month probationary period applies with no change in pay.
