Image Processing Engine Development Engineer

This role develops the EXPEED image-processing engine used in digital cameras and related imaging products. Responsibilities cover system-architecture planning for future camera platforms, ASIC and related technology development, new functions and performance improvements, and design and implementation of proprietary image-processing algorithms and pipelines.

The engineer prepares hardware requirement and definition documents, plans and executes logic-verification activities, and evaluates functionality and performance on actual hardware after Engineering Sample release. The role also provides technical support during prototype and mass-production phases, including quality assurance, and coordinates product responses with product-development teams, software teams and external partners.

Required experience includes at least one of the following: design or verification of ASIC, SoC, LSI, custom IC, general-purpose IC or FPGA; project management for development of these devices; or development, design and logic verification of algorithms or image-processing IP. Experience developing ASICs for consumer products, designing functional blocks using RTL or high-level synthesis, analyzing functional blocks with Synopsys or Cadence verification tools, and developing image-processing systems is welcomed. Experience leading a system development involving multiple linked functions in a team of five or more, and managing quality, cost and delivery for outsourced work, are also welcomed. English communication and documentation experience is listed as a welcome qualification.

The position is in the Imaging Business Division, First Development Department, First Development Section. The section develops EXPEED and considers new technologies, productization concepts and ASIC development projects. The department handles work from concept and advanced development through ASIC development, evaluation and production launch. The team has 17 regular employees, in addition to dispatched staff, and includes members from early-career to veteran levels.

The position is full-time and offers a flextime system and remote work of up to two days per week. Working time is eight hours, with a 45-minute break. The stated standard schedule is 9:00–17:45. The probationary period is three months. Annual holidays total 128 days, with a five-day workweek, summer and year-end holidays, paid leave and other leave programs.
