Piping Design Engineer

The Piping Design Engineer will work on piping design and piping-system R&D for fusion plants. Responsibilities include defining material specifications and designing piping layouts while accounting for the high-temperature, corrosion, radiation and thermal conditions specific to fusion plants.

The role also covers stress analysis and structural integrity evaluations, including static, dynamic and thermal-stress assessments. The engineer will create and manage 3D CAD models and drawings using Auto PIPE and CAESAR II, and collaborate with specialists in mechanical, thermal, construction and safety disciplines as well as with suppliers.

Required qualifications include experience in plant or piping design in areas such as power generation, chemical plants or nuclear facilities, and an understanding of piping-related standards including ASME and JIS. Intermediate English is required. Advanced English is welcomed. Additional preferred qualifications are knowledge of fusion or nuclear plants, an understanding of plant safety and related regulations, and experience designing high-temperature-alloy piping or vacuum-system piping.
