Project Manager

This project manager role is part of the technical development division and covers customer-commissioned development and in-house R&D related to fusion reactor development. The position oversees fusion plant development across functions and guides projects toward completion.

Responsibilities include managing fusion-related equipment and system projects from planning and execution through delivery. The manager controls schedules, costs, resources, and risks, and coordinates research, design, manufacturing, and testing teams together with external vendors. The role also involves technical and schedule coordination with domestic and international customers, operating projects in line with contract conditions, and supporting the installation, testing, and handover of demonstration facilities. Lessons learned through projects are used to help establish standard processes and operations for future commercialization.

Applicants must have completed a four-year university or graduate-school program in mechanical engineering, materials engineering, chemical engineering, nuclear engineering, or electrical and electronic engineering. Intermediate-level English is required. The posting also seeks people who can actively engage with new technologies, knowledge, and different industries, and who are willing to try proactively without fearing failure. Preferred qualifications include advanced English; several years of experience working overseas or with overseas vendors; experience using industrial analysis tools such as ASPEN, HTRI, ANSYS, AVEVA, or CREO; knowledge related to nuclear energy and radiation use; and project management experience at an engineering company, machinery manufacturer, or manufacturing company. The following qualifications are also welcomed: Radiation Protection Supervisor, Class A hazardous materials handler, Class A high-pressure gas supervisor, Energy Manager, Boiler Engineer, Chief Electrical Engineer, and Pollution Control Manager.

The position is listed as full-time regular employment with no fixed contract end date, although employment as a contract employee may also be possible. The annual salary range is 5.4 million to 12 million JPY, with a monthly salary structure; the amount is negotiable based on experience and may vary according to company performance and individual evaluation.

The listed workplaces are the Tokyo headquarters office in Ota, Tokyo, and the Kyoto Research Center in Kuse-gun, Kyoto. For employees assigned to the Tokyo headquarters, work from a Tokyo satellite office in Marunouchi, Chiyoda Ward may also be possible from June 2026. Remote work is negotiable for people living within commuting distance. Domestic and international transfers may be required. Working hours are 9:00 to 18:00 with a one-hour break, and a flextime system may apply depending on business needs. Holidays are Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays, with at least 120 annual holidays; the posting reports 125 days in 2025 and 126 days in 2026.
