The Satellite Systems Engineer works in Satellite Development Department 1, which designs, develops and operates satellites. The Systems Engineering Team is responsible for satellite system design, development-process management and development-process design.
The role covers the complete satellite system and its development process throughout the satellite lifecycle, from concept and design through launch, post-launch operations and end-of-life. Responsibilities include designing satellite systems; conducting system-level analysis and managing the system budget; developing and executing system verification and validation plans; designing operation concepts and defining operation scenarios; and defining, managing and tracking system-level requirements.
The engineer also oversees configuration and change management, manages interfaces between subsystems, continuously improves the development process and contributes to best practices. The role includes coordinating with cross-functional teams, managing workgroups or teams, and managing the satellite development schedule.
Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in a technical field, experience working with MATLAB and Simulink, and at least five years of experience designing, implementing and realizing physical, cross-functional products. Experience may come from any industry or engineering domain, including aerospace, automobiles, consumer devices, systems engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or software engineering.
Project management experience is required, including leading teams, defining directions, and managing schedules and budgets.
