Building Systems Platform System Design Lead

This full-time role designs and develops a common platform supporting next-generation building systems, including central monitoring for air-conditioning and lighting, access-control systems, and disaster-prevention systems. The position is expected to lead system design for solutions in the building systems field and contribute to turning the business into a broader solutions offering.

Key responsibilities include developing system concepts based on industry, competitor, and technology trends; selecting and evaluating architectures and technologies that combine hardware, software, networks, and cloud services; and designing trade-offs among non-functional requirements such as performance, availability, security, and ease of operation and maintenance. The role also identifies reusable assets and functions across business areas, then promotes their generalization and standardization. Coordination with internal and external stakeholders, including interest alignment, project advancement, and consensus building, is part of the work.

Required experience is in system design in either an IT or OT field. Preferred qualifications include experience designing and developing servers or cloud systems, knowledge of security and networks, and knowledge of the construction industry, building life cycles, or building equipment. The posting also seeks the ability to listen to customers and on-site personnel, convert their input into an overall optimized design, make design proposals and decisions with a ten-year perspective rather than relying on existing practices, and learn unfamiliar areas proactively through to completion.

The role belongs to the Solution Engineering organization’s Building Operations category. The team is working toward fully online building systems and a shared platform for building systems, combining expertise across hardware, software, networks, and cloud. The position offers experience as an architect integrating OT, IT, and cloud, along with expertise in smart buildings and workplaces and upstream design skills that connect technology with business. Cross-functional colleagues in sales planning, technical sales engineering, and product planning work in the same department.

Work locations are Minato, Tokyo, or Kadoma, Osaka. Standard hours are 08:45–17:15, with some flextime and discretionary-work arrangements available; the stated standard working time is 7 hours 45 minutes per day. Remote work is available, generally with office attendance several times per week, and partial home-based and other flexible arrangements are possible. The probationary period is three months with no change in conditions.
