About this role

The engineer will work at either the Tokyo or Tohoku branch as a person responsible for development, qualification, and acceptance testing of components installed on the small ZERO rocket. The assigned scope will be determined based on experience and preference.

Responsibilities include planning and detailing test programs; moving test articles and fixtures using equipment such as cranes and forklifts; assembling, wiring, measuring, and conducting tests on site; evaluating results; organizing data; and preparing reports.

Environmental-performance testing includes vibration, thermal cycling, thermal vacuum, extremely low-temperature, EMC, and acoustic tests. The role may operate vibration test machines, temperature and humidity chambers, vacuum chambers, reverberation rooms, and other facilities.

Mechanical and mechatronic component testing covers strength and stiffness tests, including tensile, compression, and bending tests, as well as functional and performance tests for cylinders, springs, hinges, valves, joints, and electric actuators. Structural-component testing includes strength tests for large metal and CFRP structures, strength and stiffness testing of adhesive, welded, and fastened joints, and evaluation of CFRP material properties.

Avionics-component testing includes evaluation of circuit boards through operating-sequence and loaded-operation checks, battery charge-discharge and safety testing, failure analysis and corrective action for received products, and construction of test fixtures, benches, and test environments. The engineer will also standardize test procedures.

Propulsion and pressurized-supply component testing includes pressure and leak testing of pressure vessels and piping, flow-characteristic testing of orifices and valves, and performance testing of heat exchangers, vibration-suppression equipment, and other devices.

The listed work location is the Tohoku Branch in Minamisoma, Fukushima, or the Tokyo Branch in Koto, Tokyo. The scope of duties may change to duties defined by the company.
