AI Engineer (Associate to Senior)

This full-time AI Engineer role supports leading Japanese and industry-leading companies with data science engineering for AI transformation. The position covers the full process from proof of concept to minimum viable product development, production operation and ongoing improvement.

Responsibilities include researching and testing AI research, generative AI and MLOps frameworks, then preparing reusable internal modules and platforms. The engineer selects technologies, designs architectures and conducts PoCs to verify feasibility. Day-to-day work also includes data preprocessing, feature engineering, model development and tuning to create insights and prediction models for business problems. The role includes turning AI models into APIs, building MLOps platforms with dashboards, using operational feedback to improve deployed MVPs, and supporting client internalization through documentation, study sessions and workshops.

Required qualifications are at least two years of practical experience in machine learning and deep learning projects using Python; model development experience including fine-tuning with either PyTorch or TensorFlow; at least one year of API development experience with FastAPI, or experience designing and implementing APIs with Python web frameworks such as Django REST Framework or Flask; and practical CI/CD experience using Docker, GitHub Actions or similar tools. Business-level Japanese is required for requirements definition, client discussions and documentation.

Preferred experience includes business development using LLMs such as GPT-4 series, Llama or Mistral, or Diffusion Models; designing and operating data platforms with Kafka, BigQuery or Snowflake; using RAG frameworks such as LangChain or LlamaIndex; Terraform or CloudFormation-based IaC and zero-trust network design; and leading projects or developing people as a technical leader.

The engineer works with consultants, data scientists, engineers and project managers in teams that address client business and DX challenges. The role involves both business and technical work, including technology selection and project execution.

The work location is in Chuo-ku, Tokyo, and remote work is available.

The selection process is document screening, first interview, case interview and final interview; the case and final interviews are generally conducted in person.
