AI Engineer

The AI Engineer structures ambiguous client challenges, understands business and data requirements, breaks problems into issues suitable for AI, proposes technically feasible approaches, and defines success conditions.

Responsibilities include data preprocessing, feature engineering, model development, evaluation design and validation, and preparing reproducible and maintainable code from proof of concept through implementation. The role also reports technical progress in regular client meetings, organizes issues, proposes next steps, explains model behavior and progress to non-engineers, supports decision-making, and participates in requirements definition and agreement on evaluation standards.

The engineer collaborates with project members to design architectures and determine technical direction, and makes technical proposals to maximize overall project value. New graduates join projects with support from senior employees and build capability progressively through practical work.

Applicants are expected to graduate from a four-year university or complete graduate school by March 2027. Required skills include programming experience such as Python; implementation experience using libraries or frameworks for image processing, machine learning or deep learning, including models for semantic segmentation or object detection; knowledge of linear algebra, calculus and statistics; and basic knowledge of system development in on-premises and cloud environments. Business-level Japanese is required. Applicants may also be asked to submit implementation code from GitHub or similar services and Kaggle participation results when available.

The position is full-time and based in Otemachi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo. Working arrangements use a discretionary labor system with eight working hours per day and a deemed eight hours per day. General office hours are 9:30 to 18:30. During the probationary period, a flextime system applies, with core hours from 10:30 to 16:30. Telework may be discussed depending on the department and duties.

Monthly pay is JPY 300,000 to 350,000, including deemed overtime pay for 45 hours; excess overtime is paid separately. The stated approximate theoretical annual salary is about JPY 4 million. Salary is determined with consideration for experience and qualifications, is revised annually, and bonuses are paid twice a year.
