AI Engineer (Junior)

This AI Engineer role works in a custom AI solutions business supporting client projects across AI consulting and development, satellite-data analysis, and MLOps, continual learning, and AI licensing services. Projects may span multiple domains depending on the client and assignment.

The role researches and designs solutions for client challenges using statistical and machine-learning methods, then implements and evaluates them. Responsibilities include designing, developing, and testing AI systems; reporting technical progress and discussing technical matters with clients; and advancing projects in collaboration with solution architects. The work can involve AI system proposals, proof-of-concepts, prototypes, production development, satellite-data analysis engines and reports, or continual-learning environments.

Required qualifications include at least two years of practical development experience, experience using development tools such as GitHub, experience implementing solutions with open-source software or libraries, research and investigation ability, and logical thinking. Business-level Japanese and conversational English are required. Preferred qualifications include basic machine-learning knowledge or a strong interest in the field, implementation experience in machine learning or deep learning through research, internships, or personal projects, experience using AWS, GCP, or Azure, and knowledge of LLMs or generative AI. The role also calls for the ability to explain complex topics clearly, communicate proactively, respect team members' abilities and backgrounds, and take ownership of actions.

The named development environment uses Python; AWS, GCP, and Azure cloud services or the company's own servers; Git and GitHub for version control; GitHub Actions for CI/CD; Docker for containers; Terraform and AWS CDK for infrastructure configuration; Google Drive for documentation; and Slack for communication.

Employment is full-time with no fixed contract term and a six-month probationary period. The stated annual salary range is ¥5,000,000 to ¥6,500,000, determined with consideration for experience and previous compensation. Monthly fixed pay includes deemed overtime for 45 hours. Bonuses are paid twice a year based on base monthly salary and company performance, with annual salary revision once a year.

The standard arrangement is a discretionary work system with eight deemed working hours per day and general office hours from 9:30 to 18:30. During probation, a flextime system applies, with a 10:30–16:30 core time and stated flexible start and end times. The position is based in Otemachi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo. Remote work is available according to work conditions, with attendance at the office generally required once a week; client visits and field surveys may also be required.

Holidays include Saturdays, Sundays, public holidays, year-end and New Year leave from December 28 to January 4, refresh leave after one year of employment, annual paid leave starting at 10 days, and three special days before paid leave begins. Benefits include patent awards, qualification and graduate-study support, study sessions, books and necessary equipment expenses, healthcare support, refreshments, statutory insurance, transport reimbursement up to ¥40,000, and overtime pay. Side work is permitted subject to stated conflict-of-interest, confidentiality, authorization, and performance conditions.
