Application Specialist

This role designs, develops, builds, deploys, tests, and maintains applications for the business systems of major automotive manufacturers. The work includes delivering the required application quality, including functionality, recoverability, and usability, and supporting the planning and implementation of company-wide digital transformation initiatives.

Depending on the level, the position either leads a team of approximately five to ten people or contributes as a core member of the design, development, and construction work. Responsibilities include overseeing application specifications for a specific project theme or domain, promoting system implementation, and maintaining and continuously developing delivered solutions.

Expected projects include planning and building business applications using AI, IoT, and low-code technologies; migrating aging business applications; building big-data platforms that handle vehicle telematics and core-system data; applying that data to business systems; developing applications for Mobility as a Service; and providing IT services for major automotive manufacturers.

Applicants for the senior, or主任, level must have at least five years of end-to-end application development experience from design through testing, experience leading an application team, and practical experience with waterfall development using on-premises or cloud environments and languages such as Java or Python. Customer negotiation experience is required. Experience using or maintaining cloud services such as AWS is preferred.

Applicants for the担当 level must have at least three years of system development experience and practical experience in waterfall design and development using on-premises or cloud environments and languages such as Java or Python. Communication skills with customers and team members are required. Experience in system development or operations for manufacturing companies and experience using or maintaining cloud services such as AWS are preferred.

The position is expected to be a permanent employee role at the 主任 to 担当 levels. The expected annual compensation is approximately 6.8 million to 9.3 million yen for the 主任 level and 4.8 million to 6.6 million yen for the 担当 level. The work location is Minato, Tokyo. Remote work is possible for more than half of the week, while group communication is generally conducted through two office days per week. Customer project meetings may also be held in person depending on project circumstances.
