IT Digital Manager

This role leads the company-wide IT function for a growing global manufacturing startup working toward the early realization of fusion energy and contribution to a decarbonized society. The business has received large projects from startups pursuing fusion experimental reactors and from government-affiliated research institutions.

Responsibilities include setting and executing the company-wide IT strategy and roadmap, developing an AI utilization strategy, and promoting adoption across the organization. The manager will control and optimize IT budgets, assets, licenses, and vendors, and establish IT governance and organizational structures in preparation for an IPO.

The role oversees internal IT infrastructure, Microsoft 365, cloud services, and SaaS. It also manages contracts and decisions related to storage and other environments used for research and development. Information security initiatives, maintenance of Cyber Essentials, internal IT governance, policies, and operating rules are included in the scope.

The manager plans and drives company-wide IT projects, system implementations, infrastructure improvements, IPO-related system and process preparation, and DX and operational-efficiency initiatives that include AI use. This involves coordinating projects with internal departments, external companies, and vendors. The position also manages IT and communications infrastructure, meeting-room equipment, and access-control systems in offices and laboratories.

People responsibilities include managing and developing IT department members, operating the organization, recruiting and educating IT personnel, promoting technical knowledge sharing, and managing external vendors and contractors.

Required qualifications are at least seven years of practical IT experience, experience managing an IT department or team, experience in one or more of cloud, infrastructure, business systems, or information security, and experience planning and driving IT projects. Experience improving operations in collaboration with development or technical departments is also required. Native-level Japanese and business-level English communication skills are required.

Experience building an IT organization at a startup or rapidly growing company, operating Microsoft 365, Azure, or AWS, promoting DX or AI use, working in a global IT environment, or supporting IT for a manufacturing company or research and development organization is welcomed. The primary workplace is the Tokyo headquarters office in Ota, Tokyo. Work at the Tokyo satellite office in Marunouchi, Chiyoda, is also possible. Remote work may be discussed for people living within commuting distance, and domestic or international transfers may be possible. Working hours are 9:00 to 18:00 with a one-hour break; a flextime system may apply under company rules. Weekends and public holidays are days off, with at least 120 annual holidays and 125 in 2025 and 126 in 2026. The listed annual compensation is JPY 9–12 million. Pay is monthly, subject to discussion based on experience, and may vary with company performance and individual evaluation.
