Senior Backend Engineer

The Senior Backend Engineer will design, develop, maintain, and operate an administration console and related services for multi-tenant, service, and user management across Money Forward Cloud products. The platform centrally manages tenants, users, services, permissions, roles, contracts, and usage status, and provides common functions to products and group companies through administration screens, internal APIs, and SCIM.

Responsibilities include developing tenant and user management functions; designing and delivering internal APIs and integrations; building multi-tenant management features integrated with Money Forward ID; designing user and group synchronization using SCIM; and developing authentication, authorization, permission management, audit logging, IT governance, and other security-sensitive functions. The role also supports adoption of Money Forward ID and the administration console by group-company and M&A-target products.

The engineer will lead technical validation and the design of architecture, data models, and infrastructure for the next-generation administration console, as well as roadmap planning. Responsibilities include performance improvements, monitoring, incident response, recurrence prevention, and operational process improvements for large-scale, highly available services. The role also involves requirements, risk, and operational-policy alignment with legal, the CISO, customer success, SRE, and product managers, plus improvements to development processes, quality management, testing strategy, documentation, and team practices.

The team develops business-critical microservices supporting the Money Forward Cloud product group. Its main user management system processes tens of millions of requests per day and supports more than 30 products. The role covers a high-reliability identity and access management platform involving multi-tenant architecture, security, enterprise IT governance, and compliance.

Required qualifications include experience with authentication systems or identity providers such as OpenID Connect, OAuth, SAML, SSO, SCIM, Okta, or Azure AD; substantial development experience in Ruby, Golang, or Kotlin; database design and modeling; cloud infrastructure design and deployment; at least eight years of web application development; and a bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field. Candidates must be able to coordinate with varied stakeholders, build consensus, and lead projects. Experience with ID platforms, multi-tenant integration, system architecture, microservices, DevOps or SRE, containers, team leadership or management, and AI development or AI-assisted development is desirable.

The stated technology stack includes Ruby on Rails, Golang, Kotlin, MySQL, Kafka, Redis, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, GitHub, CircleCI, GitHub Actions, Datadog, Rollbar, Jira, Slack, and Zoom. Japanese is required at business level, including client communication. English capability equivalent to TOEIC 700 or above is required for meetings and written communication from an early stage after joining. The position is full-time, based in Minato, Tokyo, with a hybrid work style: two office days per week are generally required and three or more office days are recommended. Standard hours are 9:30–18:30 with a 60-minute break, under a discretionary work system subject to conditions. The annual salary range is ¥7,008,000–¥13,008,000, including fixed allowances. A three-month probationary period applies, and performance bonuses may be paid based on evaluations and company performance.
