Senior Product Manager

About this role

This Senior Product Manager leads large projects connected to business strategy and is responsible for understanding customers and designing their experiences. The role defines customer value across the product, not only through UI and service design but also through authentication and security, fee structures, marketing, administrative operations, and regulatory and legal considerations. The work includes deciding what should be delivered, when it should be delivered, and when it should not be delivered.

Customer understanding is developed through quantitative analysis, interviews, customer feedback received by customer support, and behavioral data. The manager defines customer value and policies for assigned themes, prioritizes initiatives in response to changes in society and technology, plans and directs UI/UX for websites and applications, confirms requirements through alignment with relevant departments and management, and improves KPIs through continuous PDCA after release. Depending on experience, the role may also include organizational management and hiring.

The position works across engineering, quantitative analysis, compliance, customer support, operations, marketing, and public relations. Engineers contribute technical constraints, quants contribute operational logic, compliance interprets laws and systems, customer support provides insight into customer difficulties, operations explains administrative realities, and marketing and PR contribute to communication. The role integrates these perspectives around customer value. Collaboration also extends to group companies including Mitsubishi UFJ Bank and Mitsubishi UFJ eSmart Securities.

Example projects include launching digital asset formation through integration with Mitsubishi UFJ eSmart Securities, integrating the customer experience with a digital bank operated jointly with Mitsubishi UFJ Bank, and improving security and usability through advanced identity verification and authentication. Required experience includes leading customer understanding and experience design using both quantitative and qualitative approaches; defining requirements that can be developed while considering multiple issues; leading product development across multiple departments; and achieving discontinuous product growth. Preferred experience includes leading a large-scale renewal of an existing product, advancing partnerships or alliances with large companies, creating roadmaps based on changes in technology and risk, and managing an organization.

The role is full-time permanent employment in Shinagawa, Tokyo. Annual compensation is JPY 10,000,000 to JPY 18,000,000, paid monthly in 12 installments under an annual salary system. Working hours use a flextime system with a 10:00–16:00 core time and a 60-minute break. Hybrid work combines at least three days per week in the office with working from home; exceptions may apply by position. Some positions may also be outside the flextime or Saturday, Sunday, and public-holiday arrangements.

Holidays include Saturdays, Sundays, public holidays, year-end and New Year holidays, and other company-designated leave. Paid leave is granted from the date of joining, with 15 days in the second year and 20 days from the third year; leave can be taken in one-hour units. Benefits include social insurance, a corporate defined-contribution pension, a massage room, office convenience and coffee facilities with some drinks provided free, and influenza vaccinations. Development support includes subsidies for professional and technical books, certifications, external training, seminars, and internal financial study sessions.
