Senior Machine Learning Engineer, Planning AI

This senior machine-learning engineer develops and productizes Planning AI for TIER IV’s autonomous-driving system, focusing on route and behavior planning. The role moves technology from R&D into vehicle deployment, improving safety, comfort and robustness across varied traffic and edge cases. Responsibilities cover designing and optimizing ML planning algorithms; evaluation using vehicle data and simulation; issue analysis; and integration with conventional planning and control. The engineer deploys models with MLOps, optimizes real-time operation on in-vehicle ECUs, and contributes to Autoware and other open-source work. Required qualifications include product deployment of ML models; ML operation demonstrated on real vehicles and in closed-loop simulation; five or more years of software R&D in autonomous driving or advanced robotics; cross-functional tech-lead or architect experience; team-management experience; and Python and PyTorch. The role also requires three or more years of production software development, at least one full software lifecycle, and foundations in algorithms, maintainable and testable design, concurrency, network protocols, debugging and code review.
