Project Manager

About this role

This full-time Project Manager leads custom development projects for major Japanese companies using Speeda's economic information in each customer's environment. The role follows a Forward Deployed Engineer model, working outside the standard product boundary to create customer-specific value. Responsibilities extend from feasibility discussions and agreement with the customer to design, implementation, production launch, and post-launch operation and maintenance. The scope may vary according to the phase and scale of each project.

The work includes understanding the customer's business processes and existing data, defining scope and success criteria, and reaching agreement on delivery deadlines. The role designs system architecture within the constraints of the customer environment; designs and builds data pipelines that connect corporate financial, news, and disclosure data; and performs data matching and reconciliation with customer-held data. Data is modeled for analysis and search. The position also coordinates across multiple customer departments and handles internal reviews and approval processes.

Required experience includes at least approximately three years of practical project management experience in IT projects, including work from upstream phases such as requirements definition and direct agreement with customers on scope and deadlines. Candidates must have experience personally designing and implementing systems and handling operation after launch, with the ability to make their own judgments about technical options and their consequences. Work may require attendance at the office and visits to customer sites. Native-level Japanese communication is required.

Experience with customers that have high security requirements, such as financial institutions, major operating companies, and consulting firms, is preferred. Other preferred experience includes building and operating pipelines for mixed structured and unstructured corporate information and financial data, building systems in customer environments such as on-premises infrastructure or customer cloud tenants, and responding to security checklists, external vendor reviews, and vulnerability assessments.

The standard technology stack is Kotlin and Spring Boot for the backend, TypeScript and Next.js for the frontend, Google Cloud and AWS for infrastructure, including customer tenants, and PostgreSQL and Snowflake for data stores. Data platforms use workflow-management and data-transfer tools to build pipelines, with tools selected according to each customer's constraints. Development tools include Slack, Google Workspace, Notion, Figma, GitHub, Docker, Datadog, Claude Code, Codex, and Devin. Customer environments may restrict whether these tools can be brought in or used.

The position is based at the Marunouchi office in Chiyoda, Tokyo, and remote work is available. Working hours use a super-flextime system. Holidays include Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays, plus at least 10 days of paid leave and a long-vacation benefit providing two seven-consecutive-day breaks per year, including weekends, separately from paid leave. Annual salary is JPY 7,000,000 to 12,000,000. Benefits include transportation expenses up to JPY 50,000 per month, a company-provided PC selected from an available catalog, and a reduced-hours system. The position is covered by the Kanto IT Software Health Insurance Society. The work location may change to the employee's home, the headquarters, or another company-approved location.
