SRE

This SRE role supports Fanicon, a subscription-based premium fan community platform where fans interact directly with artists and other personalities. The SRE team maintains systems that handle heavy traffic and works closely with development teams, product managers, and designers. The role includes sharing technical knowledge, contributing ideas in design discussions, and providing technical leadership.

Day-to-day work includes backend code optimization, automation of operational systems, and responding to system failures. The engineer improves system reliability, performance, and scalability; participates in a department-wide on-call rotation; owns production releases with development teams; and handles incident management, post-mortem analysis, and system optimization. The role also includes maintaining documentation for system configurations, operations, and troubleshooting procedures, as well as fine-tuning MySQL and InnoDB database deployments.

The infrastructure is multi-cloud. Named technologies and services include GCP Cloud Run, GCP networking, GKE, Cloud SQL, AWS IVS, and CloudFront. The engineer works with Docker containers and orchestration tools, uses Terraform for infrastructure-as-code deployments and tool configuration, and uses CircleCI for continuous integration and delivery pipelines. Datadog is used for application performance monitoring. Kubernetes knowledge is preferred.

Minimum qualifications are a bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent practical experience, experience with at least one public cloud platform, and experience with at least one programming language, preferably Python, Golang, or JavaScript/TypeScript. The posting also requires familiarity with Linux administration and shell scripting, independent working ability, quick learning, proactive collaboration, written and verbal communication, problem solving, troubleshooting, and the ability to work calmly during production outages.

Preferred qualifications include experience with monitoring and infrastructure tools such as Datadog, PagerDuty, Terraform, and CircleCI; GCP design and administration; networking principles and protocols; clear technical documentation; large-scale web application development and operation; and collaboration with product managers and designers. Additional bonus experience includes AWS administration, Kubernetes, Docker, containerization, microservice architectures, Stripe or other payment processors, and deployment tooling such as canary or blue/green releases. Strong written and verbal Japanese communication is also listed as a bonus.

The position is based at the Harajuku Office in Shibuya, Tokyo. Annual salary is 7 million to 12 million yen.
