Lead acquired-product migrations into Money Forward ID and tenant management platforms, coordinating technical requirements, safe cutovers, engineers, roadmaps, and risks.
The Technical Program Manager will lead the migration and integration of products added through mergers and acquisitions into the common Money Forward ID and tenant management platforms. The Identity Platform team supports more than 30 products and processes tens of millions of requests per day. The role was created to coordinate these integrations and improve group-wide user experience, governance, and cross-product collaboration.
Responsibilities include assessing the acquired product’s codebase and architecture, especially authentication and user-data structures, and defining the technical gaps and requirements for migration. The role will design data-migration and system-cutover plans that are safe and minimize user impact, including rollback strategies. It will coordinate specifications and resolve technical issues between the acquired product engineering teams and the Identity Platform department, facilitate discussions, and manage multiple migration projects across products. Roadmaps, risks, scope, schedules, and stakeholder expectations must be coordinated from technical design through release.
The position has end-to-end ownership of identity and tenant migration programs. It will support decision-making as a trusted partner to product and engineering managers on both sides of an integration and is expected to establish reusable frameworks and best practices for future post-merger integration projects.
Required qualifications include at least approximately five years of practical web application development experience, with no specific programming language required; experience or understanding of system architecture, database design, and API design; and experience in project management or team leadership in software development. Experience creating work breakdown structures, managing issues, and building agreement between business and development functions is also required.
Preferred experience includes authentication and authorization technologies such as OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect, identity platforms, multi-tenant systems, service-preserving migrations, data migration, system replacement, and IT or product post-merger integration. Basic English ability is requested for adapting to an English-language engineering organization, with TOEIC 700 as a guideline. Experience developing AI or using AI tools for development is also welcomed.
The team includes Japanese and global members and operates mainly in English, while communication for this position is primarily in Japanese with domestic group companies and product teams. Business-level Japanese, including the ability to communicate with clients in Japanese, and English equivalent to TOEIC 700 or higher are specified.
The named technology environment includes Java with Jersey, Guice, and jOOQ; MySQL; Docker, Nginx, and Consul; AWS and on-premises platforms; GitHub; CircleCI, Jenkins, and GitHub Actions; Terraform Enterprise; DataDog, Rollbar, and Sentry; Slack; and Dependabot.
