Nidec is a Kyoto-based manufacturer centered on motors and related motion-control technologies. Its portfolio spans small precision motors for data-storage and electronic devices, automotive steering and traction systems, motors and compressors for appliances, and commercial and industrial drives. It earns revenue primarily by selling these components and systems to manufacturers and other industrial customers.
The group also sells factory equipment—including robots, presses, inspection systems and machine tools—plus reducers, sensors, switches and optical components. Nidec reported net sales of ¥2,607.094 billion for the year ended March 31, 2025; later disclosures said corrections to prior-year figures were still required, while its March 2026 results remained unfinished.
