Nomura Research Institute (NRI) is a consulting and IT services group with four main service areas: consulting, financial IT solutions, industrial IT solutions and IT platform services. Starting from its think-tank and consulting work, it carries projects through system design, development and operation. NRI had 7,982 employees, and the NRI Group 16,894, as of March 31, 2026.
Its systems support securities trading at brokerages' branches, websites and call centers, and calculate about 80% of the open-ended fund prices published daily in the Nikkei for asset managers and trust banks. NRI also supports convenience-store ATM networks and retail supply chains, provides compulsory automobile liability insurance systems to non-life insurers, and runs its own data centers.
