Roblox operates an immersive gaming platform where users discover online games and play together, and also serves as a game-creation studio and engine for developers and artists. Roblox is not a single game: the experiences are built by other users and professional creators, from obstacle courses and racing games to creative simulations.
Signing up and playing is free. Some enhancements require Robux, the platform's virtual currency, which can be spent on avatar items and in-game upgrades, and users can upgrade to a Roblox Plus subscription for added benefits. Creators use Roblox Studio and the Creator Hub documentation to design, build and publish experiences. The company says it employs more than 2,000 people.
