Spiber

Biotechnology · Biomaterials · Tsuruoka, Japan

Spiber designs proteins and produces them through precision fermentation using mainly plant-derived feedstocks. Its flagship Brewed Protein fiber is sold as staple fiber and sliver for textiles used in apparel and accessories, serving fashion brands, mills, and spinners. Revenue comes from material and product sales, alongside application development with manufacturers.

Beyond textiles, Spiber is developing protein-based finishing agents, coatings, and leather-like sheets. It is also applying its fermentation platform to functional proteins for food, beverages, feed, and pet food, targeting consumer-goods companies, ingredient makers, and development partners.
