Umios, formerly Maruha Nichiro, is a seafood and food company organized around marine resources, food distribution and processed foods. Its operations include fishing and aquaculture, and the import, export, processing and sale of seafood, as well as imports of meat and feed raw materials and meat processing.
In processed foods it makes frozen foods, retort foods, canned goods, fish-paste products, chemical products and beverages, and its plan includes expanding its pet food business. Group companies include Taiyo A&F, Daito Gyorui, Shinko Gyorui, Yayoi Sunfoods and Icia in Japan, and Westward Seafoods and Kingfisher Holdings overseas.
