Principal CIS Consultant

About this role

The Principal CIS Consultant will lead customer innovation engagements for SAP’s Customer Industry Solutions team. The role involves running discovery workshops and FDE-style boot camps with business and IT stakeholders to identify, qualify, and prioritize Industry AI opportunities.

The consultant will translate business challenges into implementable AI solutions, using AI tools during the definition process to clarify requirements, agent architecture, KPIs, and quantified value metrics. Responsibilities cover the full use-case lifecycle, including discovery, requirements definition, prototyping, acceptance criteria, collaboration with engineering, deployment, and validation of business outcomes. The role is expected to move measurable customer value into production through an iterative delivery model within weeks rather than quarters.

Customer learnings will be converted into industry-specific AI assets and accelerators, supported by documented financial and operational value, for reuse across SAP globally. The work focuses on Manufacturing, Energy & Natural Resources, Consumer Products, and Professional Industries, where the consultant is expected to understand operational process failures and opportunities for transformation.

Candidates need 6+ years of experience in one or more of those industries and hands-on experience defining Agentic AI solutions with attention to data readiness, process fit, and measurable outcomes. The posting also requires a proven record in product definition and delivery or in leading business transformation initiatives, including the ability to structure complex challenges into programs that deliver at senior stakeholder level.

The role requires experience leading executive workshops, FDE-style discovery sessions, and co-innovation engagements; navigating complex organizational dynamics; building trust; identifying high-impact AI opportunities; and turning ambiguity into executable solutions. Candidates must be able to create quantified business cases with realistic KPIs and ROI timelines and understand how value is created and measured in the businesses served.

Named platform and architecture knowledge includes SAP S/4HANA, SAP Business AI Platform, SAP Joule, Signavio, LeanIX, and clean-core, cloud-first architecture principles. Clear, concise English, written and verbal, is required for requirements documentation, executive-level discussions, and stakeholder influence.

The position is part of a global CIS group bringing together industry expertise and AI engineering. It requires collaboration with engineering teams, product managers, and customer executives, as well as guiding others toward sharper use cases and stronger value assessment.
