Design MMM, data-clean-room and causal-inference analyses to measure advertising ROI. Build data pipelines, define requirements, and turn findings into recommendations for clients and sales.

About this role

This full-time data analyst and data consultant role sits in the Video Division's newly established data consultant team. The team supports large clients' marketing through video media and aims to visualize and forecast the ROI of advertising investment using data.

The role is responsible for analysis design and requirements definition. Day-to-day work includes defining data requirements, designing data pipelines, designing, implementing and reporting marketing mix modeling (MMM) for advertisers, and designing and conducting exposure-contribution analyses using data clean rooms (DCR). The analyst will verify advertising effectiveness using causal-inference methods such as Causal Impact, and translate analytical findings into decision-support consulting for sales staff and clients, including strategy and initiative proposals.

The role covers the process from analysis through initiative planning and execution, effectiveness validation, and identifying next actions. It also involves helping establish the team, develop its operating structure and analytical methods, and support case development during its 0-to-1 phase.

Required qualifications are graduation from a four-year university or higher and approximately three or more years of practical data-analysis experience using SQL and Python. Candidates must also have at least one of the following: practical experience with cloud data platforms such as GCP or BigQuery; experience applying statistics or causal inference in work or research; or the ability to document analysis designs and define requirements for team members.

Preferred qualifications include implementation experience with MMM, Causal Impact or PSM; practical experience in Bayesian statistics, time-series analysis or machine-learning modeling; analytics experience in advertising or marketing; implementation experience with BI tools such as Tableau or Looker; domain knowledge in HR, finance, real estate or FMCG; and a master's degree or higher in mathematics, statistics or information-related fields, or Statistics Certification Pre-1 level or above.

The initial work location is Shibuya Scramble Square in Shibuya, Tokyo, and the employee's home. In principle, office days are Monday, Wednesday and Friday, with remote work on Tuesday and Thursday. Working hours are 10:00 to 19:00, with eight scheduled working hours. The role has a complete two-day weekend system on Saturdays and Sundays, along with annual paid leave, special leave, public holidays, summer leave, year-end/New Year leave, bereavement leave, parental leave and other stated leave programs.

The listed annual salary range is JPY 5,040,000 to JPY 8,004,000, although an offer may be set in consideration of the candidate's current annual income. Commuting costs are separately paid as one month's commuter pass cost. Performance evaluations take place twice yearly, and compensation is presented as an annual salary that includes specified scheduled-hours, late-night and overtime pay components. Benefits listed include housing assistance, a retirement incentive program, employee stock ownership, counseling, condolence payments and social gathering subsidies. Health, employment, workers' compensation and employees' pension insurance are provided. The selection process consists of two to three interviews, including one in-person interview.
