CAD Engineer (Plant Technology Field Engineer)

As a field engineer in the Plant Technology division, the role evaluates the performance of development equipment for fusion plants. Responsibilities include planning and conducting performance evaluations, setting experimental conditions, collecting measurements and data, analyzing results, preparing assessment reports, proposing design improvements, and feeding evidence from field tests back to the design and analysis teams.

The engineer specifies, designs, builds, and commissions test and evaluation facilities. The role also modifies existing facilities to improve performance or accommodate new test items, coordinates specifications with instrumentation, control, piping, electrical, and other specialists, and manages delivery with internal and external vendors. Operating manuals and safety procedures must be prepared and updated.

The position creates and revises 3D CAD models for development equipment and test facilities with system integration in mind. The work considers equipment placement, piping routes, maintenance access, and constructability. It also coordinates interfaces among design, analysis, control, and manufacturing teams, promotes integrated design, and examines standardization and modularization for future commercial plant deployment. Technical coordination with overseas customers and manufacturers, as well as installation and testing mainly in Europe and North America, may involve overseas business travel. Conference presentations may also be required.

Applicants must have completed a technical college, four-year university, or graduate program in mechanical engineering, materials, chemical engineering, nuclear engineering, or electrical and electronic engineering. They must be able to create equipment manufacturing drawings using 3D CAD such as Fusion 360, Inventor, or SolidWorks, or create building-services or plant layouts using AutoCAD, Rebro, or T-fas, with at least three years of practical experience. Experience in, or a strong interest in, manufacturing-site operations, research, or experiments is required. Native-level Japanese and at least beginner-level English are specified. Experience using Slack or Teams, Microsoft Office or Google applications, and hosting online meetings with Teams or Zoom is required. Work-related AI use beyond simple tasks such as translation is desirable.

The position is full-time with an indefinite contract period, although hiring as a contract employee may also be possible. The structured listing gives an annual salary range of JPY 4–6 million. Pay is monthly, subject to consultation based on experience, and may vary according to company performance and individual evaluation. The primary workplace is in Heiwajima, Ota-ku, Tokyo; work at the Marunouchi satellite office may be possible from June 2026. Remote work may be discussed for people living within commuting distance, and domestic or international transfers may occur.

Working hours are 9:00–18:00 with a 12:00–13:00 break, and a flextime system may apply under company rules. Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays are off, with at least 120 annual holidays; the posting records 125 holidays in 2025 and 126 in 2026.
